Many lovers of white German Shepherd Dogs are also fanciers of the long haired German Shepherd.

Maybe because we are already rebelling against the AKC standard for the German Shepherd Dog, we feel it is okay to embrace the long coat. After all, both coat color and length are cosmetic differences that usually have no effect on the  working ability and structure of the dog.

Shedding? I have noticed that there may be some truth to the fact that the long coats shed less. They seem to keep their hair longer and blow out the coats twice a year. Regular coated dogs seem to shed year round.

Softer? Yes the long coats are less wiry and they do take on a softer coat.

Keep in mind that the long coats do take a bit more to manage like the difference between long hair and short hair in a person. Tangles ect..

Temperament? Probably since they look fuzzier they get a lot more attention from birth. More cuddling from strangers so they like strangers more. They seem to be sweeter.

Other than an outward longer coat that may take a little more to comb but not shed I really feel that the inner soul of a shepherd is GREAT no matter what color or length the outer appearance is.

This breed is a true limited edition to the German Shepherd Dog.
